ECE Computer Support Group Services
ECE Computer Support Group Mission Statement:
The mission of the ECE Computer Support Group (ECE CSG) is to provide technical services and resources (applications, systems, personnel) to the ECE Community, in support of the mission of teaching, research and outreach activities.
To accomplish this mission, our specific goals and services are:
- Acquisition of Information Technology hardware and software for faculty instructional desktop computers using on-campus and external vendors. Software and hardware will be funded by the requestor.
- Network connectivity for campus-based desktops, laptops, and printers according to the University's Electronic Communications Policy (see http://www.ucop.edu/ucophome/policies/ec/), and the UCSD ACS (Academic Computing Services) Acceptable Use Policy (see http://acs.ucsd.edu/lib/aup.php).
- Detecting and helping to formulate resolutions to security related problems department-wide, as well as working to make sure that all machines are in compliance with the "Campus Minimum Network Solutions."
- Email services, including server accounts, setup, and troubleshooting for all Faculty on the departmental e-mail server only.
- Web design and space allocation allowed for faculty for faculty profile and related Information, and for ECE classweb.
- Faculty instructional desktop computer assistance. If repair is required, will assist with contacting vendor (only if under warranty).
- Consultation and recommendation services for new system purchases, lab design, and other computer needs.
- Assistance with Wireless network connectivity, support, troubleshooting, and installation.
- Assistance with working with other campus departments to troubleshoot or provide services to faculty or staff (such as ACT and JSOE Computing Recharge).
- Assistance with ECE Audio Visual equipment (training and usage).
- Connectivity support (network and wireless) for visitors and guests.
